The Großglockner high alpine road leads you through the marvellous landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Here, north-west of Carinthia, lie Heiligenblut and Döllach. This is where the first ascent of the Großglockner started out from, which at 3,798 m is the highest mountain in Austria. Even today the region is regarded as the cradle of alpinism. Due to its height (1,300 - 2,900 m) and its location on the main chain of the Alps, the Heiligenblut ski region guarantees snow security until far into the spring. The intermediate runs make the region an ideal holiday destination for sporty skiers and families alike.
