In front of the breathtaking panorama of the Loferer Steinberge mountains with the highest point of the Ochsenhorn (2,513 m) lie the cosy villages of Lofer and Unken. The Heutal valley, in which Unken lies, is snow-sure and is the ideal winter paradise for downhill and cross-country skiiers, as well as sun worshippers. The ski area is sure not to be overcrowded, and is especially suitable for families with its easy and medium-level pistes. Off-piste, history lovers will find the Kniepass Fortress is worth seeing, which was built in the 13th century and lets you have a glimpse of the history of Unken and the Salzburger Land.
